Caringbah High School, situated in the picturesque Sutherland Shire of Sydney, Australia, is a distinguished government-funded co-educational academically selective secondary day school. Founded in 1960 as a co-educational high school, the school earned its selective status in 1989, triumphing over its neighboring Port Hacking High School. Currently, the school boasts an enrollment of approximately 907 students, creating a vibrant and diverse learning community.

Renowned for its academic excellence, Caringbah High School has consistently produced outstanding results in the Higher School Certificate (HSC) examinations. Over the years, their students have achieved remarkable success, with a substantial number receiving exceptional marks. From 2000 to 2007, an impressive 7% of the student cohort achieved scores of 99+ in their HSC, while 15% achieved 98+ and 31% achieved 95+. Additionally, over 98% of Caringbah High School students have successfully gained entry into universities, setting them on a path towards higher education and future opportunities.

In 2009, the HSC cohort continued to shine, with the average ATAR (Australian Tertiary Admission Rank) reaching an impressive 87.8. Programs

The Talented Computing Program (TCP) at Caringbah High School is an exceptional opportunity for gifted and talented Information Technology students to excel in their HSC studies. This accelerated learning HSC course in Information & Processes Technology is specifically designed to allow students to undertake the Preliminary and HSC courses in IPT during Years 9 and 10, maximizing their potential and preparing them for a successful HSC journey.

The TCP offers a unique pathway for students, enabling them to complete two units towards the HSC credential in Year 12. By completing the HSC course in Year 10, students can also opt for Software Design & Technology in Stage 6, further enhancing their Information and Communication Technology learning. This early exposure to HSC study in Years 9 and 10 fosters an enriched learning experience and provides Caringbah High School students with valuable insights into the demands of HSC-level work.

Selection for the accelerated IPT (HSC) course requires students to apply and undergo a careful selection procedure. As part of the selection process, students may be asked to submit a brief application, which will be thoughtfully evaluated to determine their suitability for this accelerated course.

Additionally, Caringbah High School provides Special Religious Education (SRE) classes on Thursdays from 11:05 am throughout Terms 1-4 for Years 7-10. Parents have the opportunity to nominate their child's participation in SRE by submitting an SRE participation letter for Year 7 students in Term 3. Any changes to a child's SRE enrolment should be communicated to the school office in writing.

The school offers a diverse range of SRE classes, including Christian SRE, Catholic SRE, and Greek Orthodox SRE. Each class is taught by authorized and trained teachers from their respective denominations or churches. During SRE classes, students not attending will be accommodated separately and participate in Non-Scripture activities.

History and geography are both compulsory subjects from Kindergarten to Year 10. Students develop essential historical and geographical concepts and skills while also having the option to explore elective subjects in Stages 4 to 5, offering a deeper understanding of societies and environments.

Throughout the HSIE courses, students engage in research, analysis, and critical thinking, honing their ability to question and make informed judgments. Writing for various purposes is also emphasized, enhancing students' communication and literacy skills.
